DAY 15—The Certainty of Eternal Life

When we Love others with the Love of the Lord, our knowledge of eternal life is made strong. The benefit we receive from Loving others, even when we’re not Loved in return, is the certainty of the eternal Life that God gives us. His Spirit brings this to us. He releases it in us and makes us glad even in the face of rejection and misunderstanding. Eternal life begins in us even while we’re in this world. It’s a quality of Life released in us when we live in communion with the Lord Jesus.

I John 3:14—We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we Love the brethren. NIrV—We know that we have left our old dead condition and entered into new life. We know it because we Love one another. Those who do not are still living in their old condition.
I John 5:20—And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. NIrV—We also know that the Son of God has come. He has given us understanding. Now we can know the One who is true. And we belong to the One who is true. We also belong to his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God. He is eternal life.

DEAR LORD, I praise You for the awareness of eternal Life that has already become mine.
I praise You that I can let go of the things that once held such strong attraction for me.
So much of it was wasteful. Much of it was a contamination for my soul. Let my love for others only increase. Give me the grace to lay down my life for those around me. do this.
I praise You for the knowledge of things that are of far greater value.
Oh, how valuable Your Love is!

Loving God completely sets us free to love others and to fulfill the Scriptures—Matt 22:37-40
